Frequently asked questions — IP68 industrial tablet PCs

1. What does IP68 mean compared with IP65 or IP67?

IP65 is dust-tight and protected against water jets; IP67 adds protection against temporary immersion; IP68 covers protection against continuous immersion under conditions agreed between the manufacturer and the user. For equipment that is routinely hosed down, dropped in water or used in wet process areas, IP68 is the relevant level — but the exact immersion conditions should always be agreed in writing.

2. Can it be used as a portable terminal as well as a fixed unit?

Yes. A rugged tablet form factor is intended for operators who carry the device to the machine or around the site, so it combines the sealed housing with a battery-powered or docked operation. Tell us whether the device will be hand-carried, vehicle-mounted or docked at a station, and which interfaces you need, and we will confirm the matching configuration.

3. Can it be read in bright or outdoor light?

For semi-outdoor and outdoor installations we combine a high-brightness backlight with optical bonding, where the touch panel is laminated directly to the LCD instead of leaving an air gap. Optical bonding removes internal reflections and raises contrast, so the screen stays readable under strong ambient light. The brightness and bonding combination is selected per model and installation site.

4. What operating temperature range can be supported?

We use industrial-grade wide-temperature panels and components together with industrial driver boards, so the display keeps working outside a normal office environment. The exact operating range depends on the model and on your enclosure and duty cycle — send us your environment conditions and we will confirm the applicable range for the model you choose.

5. Which certifications can you provide?

We ship to Germany, the United States, Japan, India and Korea, and we provide the certification documents required by the target market — for example CE for the European Union, FCC for the United States, PSE/TELEC for Japan, BIS for India and KC for Korea — together with RoHS compliance documentation. Certificates are model-specific and in some cases end-product specific, so tell us your destination market and the model you are considering and we will confirm the applicable certificates for that combination.

6. What about warranty and long-term OEM supply?

Standard warranty is one year, and extended warranty is available on request to match your project or service contract. For OEM integration we keep the display configuration fixed for your product, record the approved golden sample and control batch-to-batch consistency; if a panel, touch panel or driver board reaches end of life we inform you in advance and propose a drop-in replacement so production is not interrupted. Spare-parts and replacement-unit options are available.
